Croydon Libraries – Summer Reading Challenge 2023 – Ready, Set, Read!

Croydon libraries are taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge!

When: Saturday 8 July until Saturday 9 September 2023

Audience: Aimed at children aged 4 to 11

For this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, The Reading Agency has teamed up with the Youth Sport Trust to inspire children to discover the power of sport and play through reading.

Children can collect free rewards with plenty of brilliant books to enjoy. The challenge is the perfect summer activity to keep young minds and bodies active over the holidays.

This year’s theme, Ready, Set, Read!, features six young friends who all love games,

sports, being active and of course reading! Each character has a favourite activity and a particular motivation for being part of this team. They will need to come together to complete an obstacle course and use their own special individual skill to uncover the 6 hidden golden books!  All 6 are needed to cross the finishing line.

How to complete the challenge

Children are invited to visit their local Croydon library to sign up to Ready, Set, Read!, and complete the challenge by reading 6 books. All children who complete the challenge can enter into a prize draw!

Prizes include:

  • a Kindle
  • Godstone Farm entry tickets for 2 adults and 2 children
  • a Flip Out voucher
  • a CroyWall Climbing Centre session

To get involved, find your local library.
