Club Soda is relaunching Gig Buddies in Croydon!

Gig Buddies matches people with and without learning disabilities to go to events together!  Join the party in the bar at BoxPark in Croydon on 22 July, 2019 from 5-9pm with tunes from Club Soda DJs!

Why not go along to find out about the project and how to become a Gig Buddy?

The project helps to combat social isolation faced by many people with learning disabilities, by enabling people to make friends with members of their community who have a similar interest to them and enjoy the local cultural scene.

A week of events for International Women’s Day 2018 in Croydon – #PressForProgress

International Women’s Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.  This year’s theme is Press For Progress

Croydon Council’s Women’s Staff Network and its partners will be marking and celebrating International Women’s Day 2018 with a week-long programme of activities and events, namely Croydon International Women’s Week.

Events on offer include:

  • Empowering Women of Croydon, 5th Mar 2018 12.00 – 2.00pm, Croydon Town Hall F4 and F5

Get inspired by great local role models, network with like-minded women, find out how you can access free training and advice over light refreshments. Free activities for children. Free to attend, refreshments are provided.

  • An Evening Celebrating Women7th Mar 2018 5.30 – 8.30 pm, BoxPark Croydon

Screen25 are hosting a documentary exploring Jamaican Dancehall culture seen through the eyes of the women. The Museum of Croydon will be celebrating the achievements of some of Croydon’s Women throughout history.

During these events, visitors with children, have the opportunity to drop-in between 11am-4pm and participate in craft activity which will be held outside the Museum of Croydon gallery.

Kenley Revival Project ‘Women at War’ season presents: Amy Johnson: Last Flight Out. An original one-person show inspired by the life of record-breaking pilot, Amy Johnson. Supported by the National Lottery. The performance is approximately 1 hour 10 minutes with no interval. Please note this play is suitable for 14 years and up.

Join Croydon’s Interfaith bike ride and picnic in the park – 9 July 2017

The Faiths Together in Croydon (FTiC) annual picnic and bike ride will be held on July 9 in 2017, in association with Croydon Council and BoxPark.

This year the Council are supporting this special Big Get Together event  to show that we #WeStandTogether

A continuation of the Croydon Cyclefest, this is Faiths Together in Croydon’s third inter-faith bike ride and picnic.

This cycle ride through Croydon visits several of our diverse sites of worship before joining a dedicated Big Get Together picnic in the Park Hill Park. It’s a great opportunity to bring our community together, young and old, to promote diversity and equality.

Everyone is welcome to take part in the interfaith bike ride, to see the riders off from Boxpark Croydon, and to join the interfaith picnic which runs from 2-5pm at Park Hill Park in central Croydon.

The ride will be led by professional cycling instructors who will safeguard the ride. Rides will depart promptly as follows:

10am – Starting point for Group A: Croydon Arena, SE25 4QL for a route safety briefing

10:30am – start riding!

10:30am – Starting point for Group B: Boxpark, CR0 1LD.

International Women’s Day 2017 in Croydon – a week of events starting on 6 March #BeBoldForChange

International Women’s Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.  This year’s theme is Be Bold For Change.

Croydon Council’s Women’s Staff Network and its partners will be marking and celebrating International Women’s Day 2017 with a week-long of activities and events, namely Croydon International Women’s Week.  This will be held from Monday, March 6, 2017.

 

The launch event will be taking place on Mon 6th Mar, from 5.30-8.00 pm at BoxPark.  The evening will consist of performances from local artists and poets, a panel of Croydon’s very own women leaders and renowned guest speaker Dr. Ava Eagle Brown.
