Help sow the seeds of #ourgreenmile – a community-led project creating a green corridor between West Croydon & Thornton Heath

You too can be a proud supporter and/or an active participant in Our Green Mile, a community-led project to create a green corridor along the London Road, linking West Croydon Station with Thornton Heath Pond.

The project is a joint initiative between Broad Green Residents’ Association (BGRA), West Croydon Energy Garden (WCEG)  and Thornton Heath Community Action Team (THCAT).

Anyone can get involved but the team is particularly interested in engaging local people to drive the project forward. Could you help by taking responsibility for watering a planter, for example, or helping to spread the word by displaying a leaflet?

Want to know more or to get involved?

Then, book a place for the launch event on March 4 on Eventbrite.

Get in touch by emailing ourgreenmile@gmail.com if you’d like more information, have a suggestion or have something to donate to the project.

Mapping the Wandle – Creative writing workshop, 9 September 2017

Wandle Fortnight, run by Living Wandle Landscape Partnership and the Wandle Valley Forum is back again in September 2017.

An event will be run at the Local History Service located at Battersea Library on Saturday 9 September 2017 exploring the history of the River Wandle. There will be copies of archival materials held in the collection and these will be used to make cut and paste collaged publications inspired by the participants’ memories. It will be an opportunity to share experiences of the River and think creatively about how participants can tell their own stories.

Mireille Fauchon, who will be leading the event says,

‘It would be fantastic to have a range of stories from people with different stories about the River; for example from childhood, work or leisurely activities just enjoying the landscape.”

The workshop is FREE for adults only (16+)All materials will be provided – just bring yourself and your memories!

Places are limited so please do book by emailing Heritage@gll.org or call 0207 223 2334 (press 2 at the menu)
