Following on from the success of the project at Christmas, their latest project is a ‘£35 Neutering’ initiative which runs throughout the whole of 2017. There are 50 low-cost neutering vouchers for selected breeds, allowing owners who are on benefits or a low income and living in a Croydon postcode to get their dog neutered for just £35 at any one of a number of participating vets. The procedure normally costs between £200- £500, depending on the size of the dog, so this is a huge saving.
There is a UK-wide overpopulation of unwanted dogs. Although this is due to a large number of unscrupulous backyard breeders, there are also many owners who would like to have their dog neutered but simply cannot afford it. Not having dogs neutered can lead to issues such as accidental litters, continuous straying, dog thefts and unneutered dogs being sold to new owners, antisocial behaviour involving dogs.
