 Croydon PrideFest – parade and festivities

The civically inspired Pride event will mark the inauguration of Croydon’s first out & proud  Mayor, Councillor Wayne Trakas-Lawlor. It will also celebrate the achievements made by the local LGBT community & their allies in developing and providing services for the LGBT community. In addition, it will commemorate the many hard fought campaigns & their determination to continue to fight for equality, justice and freedom worldwide for LGBT people who continue to be harmed and persecuted.                                            

                                             Croydon Pride Parade

The Parade will assemble at 12.30pm near Marks & Spencer and will depart at 1.30pm, parading through the Whitgift Shopping Centre, turning right at the tramway junction, down to Surrey Street & Matthews Yard, to be greeted by the Mayor and his husband.

Come enjoy and celebrate Croydon Pride with music, dance, song, food, drink and fun for everyone.

Croydon Pride festivities in Surrey Street

 Crafty Group, the team behind the successful Crafty Purley and Croydon Craft Beer Festivals, will be there providing beers.

There will be a family area with lots of fun things provided to keep the youngsters happy.

On Stage will be the legendary cabaret act Topping and Butch, known for their Edinburgh Festival and Radio 4 appearances as the event’s headline performers, with local performers also ‘strutting their stuff’ and telling their stories on stage.

There will be stalls, exhibits and information about local LGBT groups & their allies, including Croydon Area Gay Society ( CAGS)Aurora – Croydon’s LGBT Police Consultation Group,  Rainbows Across Borders – a voluntary self-help group for LGBT asylum seekers who are fleeing persecution of oppressive homophobic/transphobic regimes, Transpals,  and the Croydon LGBT+ Network Group.

Croydon Pride Festival is an event for anyone from Croydon’s wonderfully diverse & friendly community to enjoy.
