Croydon community’s response to the crisis facing refugees – How to help

The following has been received from Nathan Elvery, the Chief Executive, Croydon Council:

The community response to the crisis facing refugees from the Middle East is gathering momentum and the Council has received many calls from individuals and organisations wanting to make donations of clothing, blankets etc.  We are aware some community and faith groups are organising collection and shipment but would like to have a more comprehensive picture of what is happening locally.

If you are collecting items for shipment to support refugees and would like the Council to signpost to you people who want to make donations, please email your contact details (including the address and postcode of the place where donations are being collected) to thirdsector@croydon.gov.uk and put ‘Receive donations’ in the subject line.

If your organisation is collecting items and is looking for an organisation which is shipping donated items, please email thirdsector@croydon.gov.uk and put ‘Make donations’ in the subject line.

Please can you let us know by 18th September.

Financial donations can be made through the charitable appeals which are being promoted through the local and national media.

Thank you for your support in helping local people make a difference in this humanitarian crisis.
