Did you know that each GP Practice should have a Patient Participation Group (PPG) to improve services and ensure that the patient voice is heard?
Not all Croydon GP surgeries do as yet, but Croydon’s Clinical Commissioning Group are keen to promote active patient participation to improve healthcare services. They have committed to covering the cost of affiliating every Croydon PPG to N.A.P.P, the National Association for Patient Participation.
Individual PPGs are not only invaluable for giving feedback and assistance to their local GP Practice but can act as a link to spread information about NHS consultations, meetings and talks, as well as feeding in the patient view on wider issues for those unable to feed in their views directly, via the CCG’s Patient Reference Group, for example.
Each PPG in Croydon is encouraged to link into the Croydon PPG Network. This is a group established by a group of different PPG members, led by Anne Milstead, who is a member of the Parchmore PPG.
Has your Practice got a PPG?
You can check our listings at the foot of this post, ask at your surgery or contact the PPG network, who can help you with information about how to set up a PPG for your Practice if one hasn’t yet been formed.
- PPGs should be self-organised and patient led.
- They work with the GP Practice.
- They are not an avenue for pursuing individual complaints.
- Any registered patient is welcome to join the PPG of a GP Practice.
