The following has been received from an SNT team in Croydon, containing advice on disposing of scrap metal and home security.
POLICE NOTICE
Local Policing Teams are looking to reduce the risk of opportunity by asking residents to stop leaving scrap metal for collection.
Although it may be an easy option to leave scrap metal for passers by this will also increase the risk of your property being targeted by thieves.
Stop inviting thieves onto your property! If you contact Croydon Council Environmental Services on 020 8726 6200 they can help you arrange collection.
Whilst you’re reading this – why don’t you make full use of home security?
You can reduce the risk of becoming a victim by not leaving valuables on show. Closing curtains/blinds while you are out can also further reduce the risks. Don’t give opportunist thieves the opportunity!!
Your local Police would like to ask you to be extra vigilant in locking your windows and doors while any scaffolding is in place.
If you have any queries regarding this note please contact you local Safer Neighbourhood Team.
For non-emergency call 101.
In emergencies always dial 999.
